Important School Information & Updates

Arrival/Dismissal: While this has been stated before, we really need to stress the importance of following arrival and dismissal procedures in the parking lots. The plans in place are to ensure that all of our students, staff, and families are safe. IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT ONCE LIVE DROP OFF BEGINS, NO ONE PASSES THE LINE OF CARS AND EVERYONE STAYS IN THE LINE, EVEN IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE PRESCHOOL LOT. It is also important that in the afternoon, if the traffic stops, that you stop as well. If the traffic is stopped it is because our staff who are kindly assisting as crossing guards have stopped traffic to allow families to cross. Also families should NOT be parking int he staff lot at dismissal time. Thank you for your cooperation so we can keep everyone safe.

Items from Home: Please help us reinforce with your students that they should not be bringing toys/fidgets to school from home. These items cause frequent disputes as students trade them, give them away but then want them back, they get lost, etc. The exception to this is when they have been given permission from their teacher or the Y staff for a special occasion, in which case the item should remian in their backpack except when they have permission to take it out. This includes not taking it out on the bus. Thank you for your support.

Fun Run: Our Annual Fun Run will be held on Friday, October 30th.  Below you will find the times that each grade will be "running" for the Fun Run:
  • 9:05-9:20: Grade 3
  • 9:25-9:40: Grade 2
  • 9:45-10:00: Grade 1
  • 10:05-10:20: Kindergarten
Families are welcome to come and cheer on their student at their assigned time if they'd like.

Early Dismissal Days: Over the next few months, we have some early release days coming up. I wanted to share the details of Early Release days and some changes from what has previously been done.
  • NEW THIS YEAR: Students will be dismissed at 11:25am. (With the exception of the day before Thanksgiving and the last. day of school.)
  • There are no Afternoon PreK classes on Early Release days.
  • NEW THIS YEAR: Mandates require us to have lunch for students on Early Release days. On these, days students may order lunch from school. The only lunch option on these days will be the Fun Lunch that is typically offered on the specific day. (For example, on a Thursday, the available lunch option will be charcuterie.) Students may also bring lunch on Early Release days. Students will be eating lunch in the classrooms on these days so please note that if you choose to send a lunch with your child, it MUST BE NUT FREE.

PTO Updates

🎃 The Stall Brook Pumpkin Stroll was SO much fun! Seeing all the kids' faces walking through the spooky, pumpkin lit Stall Brook hallways was the best!
We are so thankful for our local businesses, school families, and volunteers for pledging pumpkins and their time, and to Briggs Property Maintenance and Cook's Roofing for the generous pumpkin donations! Thank you to all the parent volunteers who came to help set up and who stayed to pick up at the end- your help was SO appreciated.

🎃 Halloween Safety Tips for Parents & Guardians 👻
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Halloween is an exciting time for our little ghosts and goblins! As our students prepare for a fun-filled Halloween, I would like to share a few important safety reminders to help ensure everyone has a happy, healthy, and safe celebration.
👻 Costume Safety
  • Choose costumes that fit properly to prevent tripping or falling.
  • Use face paint or makeup instead of masks when possible to help children see clearly.
  • Make costumes and treat bags more visible with reflective tape or glow sticks.
  • Avoid long capes, loose clothing, and accessories that could cause falls.
🎃 Trick-or-Treating Safety
  • Young children should always be accompanied by a trusted adult.
  • Use sidewalks and crosswalks, and look both ways before crossing the street.
  • Carry a flashlight or use glow sticks to help children be seen after dark.
  • Remind children to stay with their adult and never enter a stranger’s home or car.
🍬 Candy and Treat Safety
  • Check all candy and treats before allowing children to eat them.
  • Discard any unwrapped, damaged, or suspicious-looking treats.
  • Be mindful of choking hazards for younger children.
  • If your child has food allergies, carefully check ingredient labels and avoid treats that may contain allergens.
🧡 Healthy Halloween Habits
Encourage handwashing before eating treats.Offer a healthy meal or snack before trick-or-treating.
  • Help children enjoy sweets in moderation and drink plenty of water.
  • Keep children away from candles, open flames, and other fire hazards.

SEL Updates

Our social emotional skill this month is Self-awareness.  Self-awareness is the ability to recognize your own thoughts, feelings, behaviors, strengths, and challenges, and to understand how your actions affect yourself and others.  One way you can help your child at home is to name emotions without judgment.  You can label what they feel (joy, anger, sadness, frustration) rather than shame the emotion. All feelings are okay, even if actions need limits.

Literacy Updates

We made a mistake in the theme for the month of October.  You may note that you already read a book about an ocean animal.  Feel free to read a book about another ocean animal or read a book of your choice(free month).  Fill out a book recording form and turn it in to get credit for your October reading!!!  See Mrs. Clark if you need a book recording form.

Math Updates

If students have completed the Summer Math assignments, please return them to school.
