*We held our second Walk to School on Wednesday and had a great turnout! Thanks to Mrs.Youkilis for organizing, to our staff members and families who joined the walk, and to our SROs for the safe escort through the neighborhood. Come join us this week for the last fall walk.
*Congratulations to the following classes for earning the Golden Horseshoe award this week:
- Mrs Sokoloski's 3rd Grade class
- Mrs. Hafford's 2nd Grade class
*Congratulations to the WHOLE SCHOOL for earning 15 horseshoes collectively. We will be doing a whole school reward that will be announced soon.
*Our first graders have been learning a lot of new strategies from the Regulated Classroom to help regulate their bodies and minds, and connect with their classmates and teachers. It was so great to see them using these games at recess too! In the photo, they are playing a blast from the past, London Bridge.
*Our Kindergarten & Grade 1 students participated in a Core Values assembly about Self-Awareness. We had some great discussions!

Early Dismissal Days: Over the next few months, we have some early release days coming up. I wanted to share the details of Early Release days and some changes from what has previously been done.
- NEW THIS YEAR: Students will be dismissed at 11:25am. (With the exception of the day before Thanksgiving and the last. day of school.)
- There are no PreK classes on Early Release days.
- NEW THIS YEAR: Mandates require us to have lunch for students on Early Release days. On these, days students may order lunch from school. The only lunch option on these days will be the Fun Lunch that is typically offered on the specific day. (For example, on a Thursday, the available lunch option will be charcuterie.) Students may also bring lunch on Early Release days. Students will be eating lunch in the classrooms on these days so please note that if you choose to send a lunch with your child, it MUST BE NUT FREE.
Walk to School Wednesdays: Stall Brook School will once again take part in Walk to School Wednesdays in October. Families meet us at St. Brendan's Church parking lot by 8:00am and we walk together as a school community along the pre-planned route, escorted by our BPD. Students must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the walk. The remaining walk will be held on October 21.

- We are taking Grade Color T-Shirt donations from past years that you don’t plan to keep using so the kids in the Backpack Program can use them. Just send them to school with your child in a bag marked PTO or Backpack Program and Nurse Jean will help us deliver the shirts to the students who need them.
- Another way you can help our program is through our Amazon Wish List. Please consider involving your child in this process so they understand the importance of helping others! And if you would like your family to have a shout out in our newsletter feel free to leave a note with your donations with the students name! (Please do not mark the actual food).
If your family could benefit from this program please fill this form. It is anonymous (only Nurse Jean will know), and there’s no requirements to join.

Dear Parents/Guardians,
To help keep our school community healthy and safe, please notify the school nurse if your child is diagnosed with or suspected of having a contagious illness. This includes, but is not limited to, hand, foot, and mouth disease, strep throat, influenza (flu), impetigo, Fifth disease, head lice, RSV, and pink eye.
Your communication helps me monitor and prevent the spread of illness within our school community. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping me keep all students and staff healthy!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me anytime at jmoreau@bpsdk12.org or 508-966-9861.
Thank you for your support!
Nurse Jean

Our social emotional skill this month is Self-awareness. Self-awareness is the ability to recognize your own thoughts, feelings, behaviors, strengths, and challenges, and to understand how your actions affect yourself and others. One way you can help your child at home is to name emotions without judgment. You can label what they feel (joy, anger, sadness, frustration) rather than shame the emotion. All feelings are okay, even if actions need limits.
|
We made a mistake in the theme for the month of October. You may note that you already read a book about an ocean animal. Feel free to read a book about another ocean animal or read a book of your choice(free month). Fill out a book recording form and turn it in to get credit for your October reading!!! See Mrs. Clark if you need a book recording form.

If students have completed the Summer Math assignments, please return them to school.
