Updates & Important Information from Mrs. Crawford & Mr. Perkins

Last Week at Stall Brook...

Each classroom has started engaging in lessons from the new SEL curriculum, Wayfinder, and exploring strategies from The Regulated Classroom. Pictured here is Ms. Pires's first grade class engaging in a settler activity to help settle bodies and prepare to engage in their next lesson.

Important School Information & Updates

Red Sox Spirit Day - The Red Sox are heading to the playoffs against the Yankees! We invite students to wear Red Sox gear, Red Sox colors, or support their favorite team on Wednesday, September 30th. 

School Photos - Grade 1 students and Mon/Th. PreK students will take their school photos on Monday, September 28th. 

Forms - I wanted to clear up any confusion about forms that have been sent out to complete from Infinite Campus. I understand that there were forms sent out from the district and one of them was about photo release, which many of you have already completed with us. A few years ago we started sending out our own forms from the school so we could have the information right at the start of the year and could more easily follow up with families who have not completed them. I apologize that there is some redundancy in the forms that we send and the forms from the district.

Title 1 Important Information - Please see the following documents with important information about the Title 1 School-Wide Program at Stall Brook School:

Walk to School Wednesdays: Stall Brook School will once again take part in Walk to School Wednesdays in October. Families meet us at St. Brendan's Church parking lot by 8:00am and we walk together as a school community along the pre-planned route, escorted by our BPD. Students must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the walk. A notice/permission slip with detailed information about the walks was sent home last week in your student's folder. The walks will be held on October 7, October 14, and October 21. 
 

District Information

From the Multilingual Learner Education Department: Happy back to school!  
  • Our first ELPAC meeting of this school year is coming! As a parent of an English learner or former English learner, you can join us at our first ELPAC meeting of this school year on Tuesday, October 20 from 6:30-7:30 PM at the Bellingham Public Library at 100 Blackstone Street.
  • We will be sharing updates about our English learner program and students and planning our work for the remainder of the school year.
  • We will also provide resources and information about parent teacher conferences which will take place in November and December.
  • Translation and interpretation are available.
  • Childcare provided.
  • New multilingual storytime provided!
  • Light refreshments provided.

PTO Updates

  • 📸Picture day is Monday, 9/28 for our Grade 1 & M/Th PreK students. Photo make up date is: Tuesday, 11/17 for any students who missed picture day or want to have their photo retaken.
     
  • 📆Our next PTO meeting is coming up this week! Please join us Thursday night, Oct 1st in the Stall Brook Library at 6pm. If you cannot join us in person for some yummy treats and good company, you can join us via zoom as well. Zoom Link 
     
  • 👕Our Grade Color Fundraiser is open! Your child should have brought home a paper form in their folder but you can also make your purchases here: Grade Level Shirts Order Here The grade color shirts will be used on days like the fun run and field day among others, and of course can also be used for our monthly whole school assemblies or any other day the student wants to wear it! Show your school spirit and buy yours today!
     
  • 💰For those that don’t know, Stall Brook PTO partners with Dean Bank to hold an activity on the first Monday of each month where your child can deposit money into their own bank account, which is a great way for kids to understand the concept of money and the importance of being able to save and have their own responsibilities. Kids can bring any amount of money they have, as little as $1 is enough to participate, and they get a small reward afterwards which makes it a very fun time with friends. Our first Dean Banking will be on October 5th!
     
  • 📸SAVE YOUR SPOT! On November 14th and 15th we will be having Holiday Mini sessions which are now open for sign ups! 60% of the proceeds go to Stallbrook Elementary PTO which helps fund all the fun and necessary activities we have for our students! PETS WELCOME! Holiday Photo Sign Up 
     
  • 🥉ATTENTION 3rd Grade Families! We’re looking forward to a fun year for our 3rd graders and are hoping to put together a parent/caregiver committee to help with special events, fundraising, and the yearbook! A special thanks to Nina Dillon who volunteered to head the committee and get the ball rolling! If you might be interested in helping out in any way, please fill out this quick survey with your name and email. The 3rd grade committee had their first meeting last week so fill out the survey if you’d like to be kept up to date on the upcoming meetings! Thanks so much for helping us make this a special year for our 3rd graders! ❤️

 

Weekend Backpack Program

Did you know Backpack Program kids usually cannot afford grade color shirts? For us it is important that they always feel like they belong in any event. If you have any Grade Color T-Shirt from past years that you don’t plan to continue using, please consider donating them to us! Just send them to school with your child in a bag marked PTO or Backpack Program and Nurse Jean will help us deliver the shirts to the students who need them.
  • Another way you can help our program is through our Amazon Wish List. Please consider involving your child in this process so they understand the importance of helping others! And if you would like your family to have a shout out in our newsletter feel free to leave a note with your donations with the students name! (Please do not mark the actual food).
  • This week we want to say a special thank you to the Spillane Family for supplying snacks for classrooms and main office guaranteeing any students who forgot their snack or couldn’t take one to school have access to them.
If your family could benefit from this program please fill this form. It is anonymous (only Nurse Jean will know), and there’s no requirements to join it.

🍂 Fall Weather Reminder 🍂
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As the weather begins to change, please remember that fall temperatures can change quickly throughout the day. Our students spend time outside for recess, and sometimes they are not prepared for the cooler temperatures.

Please check the weather each morning and make sure your child comes to school with a sweatshirt, sweater, or jacket as needed for outdoor recess.

Reading Challenge Update:  
  • Click here for the link to the yearlong challenge, it’s never too late to start.  
  • If you have completed book forms for June, July or August please return those to school.
  • The September Challenge theme is to read a book about school or set at school.

If students have completed the Summer Math assignments, please return them to school.
