Last Week at Stall Brook...

  • Last week, our students continued to strengthen classroom and schoolwide routines, build positive relationships with their teachers and classmates, and practice the expectations that help make Stall Brook a safe, welcoming, and supportive place for everyone to learn and grow.
  • We had our first PTO meeting of the year and it was wonderful. We had a lot of participation, both in person and virtually. We look forward to this continuing to grow throughout the year!
  • Our students did a wonderful job during their first safety evacuation of the year! They followed directions, remained calm, and exited the building safely when the fire alarm sounded. We are so proud of how responsibly they handled the evacuation!

Important School Information & Updates

IMPORTANT: Please help us reinforce with students that toys and personal items should remain at home. These items can often lead to distractions, disagreements, or lost and damaged belongings. We have appropriate tools available at school for students who need support with focus or regulation. Thank you for your support!

Assessments: This week, we will start collecting Beginning of the Year data for our students with various assessments. This is a very important data sample to collect so that we can accurately monitor students' progress throughout the year. This week students in grades 1-3 will take the Math i-Ready assessment.

Whole School Meeting: We have our first Whole School Meeting for students and staff this week. We will discuss our Core Values, the Golden Horseshoe awards, and Caught in the Act awards. We encourage students to wear StallBrook colors to show their school pride.

School Photos: We have two dates for school photos this year. Please look carefully at which grades will be taking photos on each day:
  • Tuesday, 9/15 - Grades K, 2, 3, & PreK (4day & T/Fri.)
  • Monday, 9/28 - Grade 1 & M/Th PreK

Meet the Teacher Night: On Wednesday, 9/16, Stall Brook School will host Meet the Teacher Night. This is a time for adults only to come to school and meet your child's teacher and learn about curriculum and the classroom. Please see the times below:
  • PreK & K families- 6:00pm-6:45pm
  • Grades 1-3 families - 6:55pm-7:45pm
More information will follow in the upcoming weeks.

Google Calendar: All important events can be found on our Google calendar for families. The link to the calendar can be found here.

Social Emotional Learning

We are excited for the school year. Throughout the year we will be focusing on our Core Values: Hardworking, Cooperative, Respectful, Kind and Inclusive.

Weekend Backpack Program

  • Our program has officially kicked off for the school year!
  • If you want to help our program we have donation bins at every entry in our schools where students can leave food or you can access our Amazon Wish List. Please consider involving your child in this process so they understand the importance of helping others! And if you would like your family to have a shout out in our newsletter feel free to leave a note with your donations with the students name! (Please do not mark the actual food).
This week we want to say a special thank you to the Karampekios Family for helping us secure the sponsorship for a second year from the Inn at Hastings Park, an amazing hotel that donates food weekly to our program.

If your family could benefit from this program please fill this form. It is anonymous (only Nurse Jean will know), and there’s no requirements to join it.

From the Health Office

As we start our new school year, I wanted to make all parents/guardians aware of a wonderful program at Stall Brook.  This program has proven to be very beneficial to many of our students and families.  Please consider becoming a part of the Weekend Backpack Program, if you don’t feel that you need to receive the backpack and want to help, we accept donations of food for the program.  At the entrances to the school there are donation bins, feel free to have your child drop off donations at any time.  You may also purchase items on Amazon and have them shipped directly to the school.  You can find the Amazon link on our Stall Brook PTO page, the list includes items that we use for the Weekend Backpack Program.  If you do purchase from Amazon, list your name on the order so that we can let you know that it has been received. You can use this attached link for Amazon:

Our school's PTO is pleased to offer a Weekend Backpack Program to help support families by providing extra food and snacks for students to take home each weekend. Students enrolled in this program will receive a backpack each week containing a variety of food items and snacks to help supplement meals over the weekend. The backpack will be sent home with your child and should be returned to the Health Office at the beginning of the following week so it can be refilled for the next week. No financial forms or income reports are required to participate in this program. The only requirement is that a parent or guardian indicate that receiving a weekend backpack would be helpful to their family at this time.
